Jane (and Family) Update:

We’ve had two big family events this week.

First, Jane graduated from 8th grade!  We had hoped to have her “Stepping Forth” ceremony outside on the field in front of her school, but the weather had other plans.  Because of the rain, and because there would have been too many people to hold an indoor event, the promotion ceremony was drive-through!  Families lined up in cars at the school.  As each reached the front, the student’s name was announced to cheers from their teachers. The student could exit the car, walk into the celebration tent to receive their promotion certificate, and get a quick photo from families in the car.  The band teacher was acting as a DJ, playing music throughout.  When it was Jane’s turn he was playing “Rain On Me” by Lady Gaga and Arianna Grande :)

A quick dash back to the car!

The rain had cleared in time for the 8th grade dance that evening.

Second, we went on our first vacation since the December 2019!  After Jane’s graduation we spent several days out on Cape Cod.  We finally felt safe doing so since now that the whole family has been vaccinated. We spent time together biking, walking on the beach, swimming in the big waves, and eating ice cream :)  It was lovely.  And Henri, as you can imagine, had the time of his life.

But here you can only see his foot :)

Even mom caught some waves

Todd wisely stayed mostly on shore with Henri.  (The water was freezing!)
