Running Update:

until the London Marathon! I did my
longest run on April 5 (21.5 miles!) and have been tapering my mileage
since. It’s always nerve racking at this
point—feeling like you’re losing fitness, realizing the race is approaching—but
I’m trying to trust the process.

Sifan Hassan is a world class runner. She historically has dominated the 1500m, 5000m, and 10000m races, but in 2023 she ran her first marathon in London AND WON IT. Below is a clip of her interview after winning the 2023 London Marathon. Despite her amazing performance, she expressed the same feeling all marathoners do:
NF Update:
We remain stubbornly
$100 short of our fundraising goal—as of this writing, Jane and I have raised
$9894 of our $10,000 goal for CTF at the London Marathon. If you haven’t donated yet this year, now is
the time! Get us over our goal! Donate here:
Jane Update
Jane and I just returned from a quick trip to NIH and back. She had her annual full body MRI and ophthalmology exam at her fall visit, so she “only” had a facial MRI, echocardiogram, EKG, blood work, and physical exam at this visit. This was a milestone MRI: her 40th. She only 18 years old.
All preliminary results from NIH look stable. We’ll get the final MRI tumor volumes in a week or two.
Family and friends have often been asking me how things are at NIH these days, with all the devastating cuts by this administration to the Department of Health and Human Services and to NIH itself. All we were able to learn on this trip is, at this time, Jane's study (the SPRINT trial) continues to receive funding from NIH. Because she is already enrolled in the study, her care will not change.
You all know how important NF research has been to our family. We want everyone living with NF to benefit from current and future NF research. Please, tell your elected officials to stop the cuts.
