I'm a bit behind in my quest to run 1000 miles again this year.  I should be nearing 700 by now, but I'm only at 647.  Still hoping to squeak by.
Just over a week until my first race of the season--the 20K New Haven Road Race.  If you haven't donated already, please do!  Here is the link:  www.krath4jane.com

NF Update:
Took the kids into Todd's lab yesterday for another MRI practice session for Jane.  For those who didn't know, we have been trying to train Jane to lie still for a non-sedated MRI scan.  On our current regimen, Jane needs a scan of her tumor every 6 months.   Jane is scheduled for her 18th MRI this December, and we’re hoping she won’t need anesthesia for this one.  We started practicing in February of this year.  At that time Jane would only stay in the scanner for a few seconds.  Yesterday she stayed in for 30 MINUTES!  We are so proud of her!  She didn’t even listen to music or watch a movie—she just listened to the sounds of the machine.

Jane (and her siblings) Update:
The kids started back to school today!  Everyone seems excited about their teachers and classes.  I think it's going to be a good school year :)

Building up for my fall races.   I got lots of running done this month while we were on vacation in Canada—and I didn’t meet a single bear.

Jane (and family) Update:
We spent a wonderful two weeks visiting with our Canadian family and friends and enjoying the beautiful Lake of the Woods in Northern Ontario.  Heaven!

Alec and Helen enjoying tubing

Alec has become quite a wakeboarder!

Jane prefers a more sedate ride.  Here she is with our neighbors.

Our dear friend, Linda, waterskiing only 6 short months after open heart surgery!!
(Don't tell her cardiologist.)

My once-a-year ride

Blueberry picking on the other side of the bay

Alec paddling with Grandma

Todd and Grandpa out for a sail

Saw a 4-point buck swimming right past our dock!

Our friend Elske admiring Jane's fishing-lure necklace

Todd makes it look easy

Camping!  We portaged (hiked with our canoe) into a neighboring, uninhabited lake and spent the night.
Our campsite.

Dinner

Our ragamuffins

Jane reading in the tent

Breakfast with coffee and oatmeal

NF Update:
Now that we’re back at home Jane is due for another check-up and blood draw.  Recently a friend asked me for advice on how to make it easier for her son to have his blood drawn.  I passed the question on to Jane, and below is her answer.  Key points:  numbing cream, hold your mom’s hand, and don’t look at the needle :)

(Jane didn’t want me to take a video, so it’s just a short audio.)
